Terms of use: what this site is, and what it is not

What our scores are

A score on this site is the output of a published rubric applied to documents we have read. It is a measurement against stated criteria with visible weights, not a recommendation, an endorsement, or a prediction about how an operator will treat you.

We never assert that any casino is the safest. Where we write that an operator scores 84 of 100 for players in a given province, that is a statement about our criteria and nothing more. Someone applying different weights would reach a different order, which is why the weights are published rather than implied.

What our scores are not

They are not financial, legal or professional advice, and nothing here should be relied on as such. Gambling is not an investment, a way to generate income, or a solution to a financial problem, and no arrangement of criteria changes that.

They are not a guarantee. A well-scoring operator can still refuse a withdrawal, change its terms, or fail. What a high score means is that more of the mechanisms that help you exist — a regulator, an escalation route, segregated funds, tested games — not that you will never need them.

Accuracy, and the limits of it

We read primary documents and record when we last checked them. Operator terms, licence conditions and register entries nonetheless change without notice, and a page can be out of date between our check and your reading of it.

Where nothing verifiable exists, the relevant criterion scores zero and says so, rather than being quietly omitted or generously assumed. A missing source is not a neutral result. Where a protection is not proven to us but is written into a regulator's published requirements and the operator is on the register that binds it, we award most of the weight and withhold the rest — a documented obligation is worth more than a promise and less than a document.

Affiliate relationships

We earn commission when a reader opens some operators' sites from a link here. Commission plays no part in the criteria, the weights, the ordering, or whether an operator is listed, and no operator can pay for placement or for a higher score. The provincial lottery corporations we list pay us nothing at all. Our affiliate disclosure covers this in full.

Age and legality

This site is for adults of legal gambling age in their province of residence: eighteen in Alberta, Manitoba and Quebec, nineteen in every other province and territory.

Whether you may lawfully use a particular operator depends on where you are, and it is your responsibility to establish that. In Ontario, eligible iGames conducted and managed by iGaming Ontario are available only to people physically present in the province. We describe provincial positions as we understand them; we do not give legal advice about your circumstances.

Trademarks and third-party names

We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of any operator, regulator or lottery corporation named on this site. Operator names and logos are the trademarks of their respective owners and are used here for identification in editorial comparison.

The same applies to the regulatory bodies we describe. We are not the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario, iGaming Ontario, Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis, or any provincial lottery corporation, and nothing on this site is an official communication from any of them.

Our own content

The text, the rubric, the scoring methodology and the graphics on this site are ours. You are welcome to quote a passage or a score with attribution and a link — that is how a reference site is meant to be used.

Reproducing pages wholesale, or republishing the scored tables as your own, is not permitted.

Liability

This site is provided as it is. We do not warrant that it is complete or uninterrupted, and to the extent the law allows we are not liable for losses arising from reliance on it — including gambling losses, which are a consequence of gambling rather than of reading about it.

Where we link to an external site, we are not responsible for its content, its terms or its conduct.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Canada and of the province in which any dispute properly arises. If a provision is unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
